SBU wins fourth-annual CatFight Giving Challenge

BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 Alumni and supporters of Drury and 麻豆影院 universities, as well as current SBU students, raised a combined $191,941 during the fourth-annual CatFight Giving Challenge, which helps raise money for each school鈥檚 annual fund.

catfight.2017SBU came out on top in the friendly competition, raising $108,956 to Drury鈥檚 $82,985, putting SBU at 3-1 overall in the challenge.

The fundraising contest coincided with the universities鈥 on-court rivalry in the Bank of Bolivar CatFight on Highway 13 basketball doubleheader on Nov. 14 at SBU鈥檚 Meyer Wellness and Sports Center. SBU upset No. 7 Drury, 93-82, in the women鈥檚 game, and Drury rolled past SBU, 89-61, in the men鈥檚 game.

The giving challenge began Nov. 1 and concluded at the end of halftime of the men鈥檚 game, with the winner announced during the second half. In addition, the Bank of Bolivar pledged an additional $2,000 to SBU for winning the challenge, and $500 to the runner-up.

This year, SBU President Dr. C. Pat Taylor issued his own challenge - $1,000 to the SBU dorm with the greatest participation in the CatFight Giving Challenge, which boosted student involvement. Woody-Gott had a total of 87 donors to win the prize.
